Concord grape is the traditional grape used to make grape jelly and juice. It is also used as a table grape and for wine. The vines produce large clusters of medium-sized, slipskin, blue-black berries. Flesh is green, pulpy and seeded; fruit ripens in mid-September. They develop strong, hardy vines that grow 5-6 feet. For best results, plant vines 6-8 feet apart on a strong trellis, fence or arbor. Prefers a deep, acidic (pH 5.0-6.5), well drained, sandy soil, but they tolerate a wide range of soil types except alkaline and wet. Grapes are self-fertile, but it's recommended to plant two for the best crop (insects still necessary to pollinate blossoms of each plant). Shipped as 1-year-old, #1 bareroot vines 6- 12 inches tall. The benefits of bare-root trees
Our trees are delivered with natural bare roots which have been dipped in hydrating gel prior to shipment to keep the roots moist and healthy. As their abundant, fibrous roots aren't confined by a container, bare-root trees get off to a more vigorous start compared to containerized roots which typically need more time to adjust to transplanting. Bare-root trees typically surpass the size of larger containerized trees in only a few years.
